The new system combines previously separate applications for steel ladle tracking and management and can be operated intuitively via touchscreen, or alternatively via keyboard and mouse. Operation via touchscreen is particularly advantageous in the factory hall, especially in the crane operator's cab, for reasons of space and because the keyboard and mouse can quickly become dirty.
The steel ladle tracking dialog provides a quick overview of the status of the ladles in the plant, such as their position or heating status, via a schematic representation. Detailed information on the ladles can be called up with a click of the mouse or a point of the finger. It is just as easy to record weights, document the position of the ladles or assign ladle lids.
The schematic representation of the steelworks can be dynamically adapted to changes in the plant via the configuration of master data.
Other dialogs are used to check ladles and steel quantities, assign and send batches and maintain master data. The dialogs are compiled for each user group depending on their rights. The underlying security concept immediately checks the plausibility of the entries. If a violation of the conditions stored in the system occurs, the current process and all entries made are reset and an error message is issued. The system also has the option of entering all values via an emergency entry.
The application was developed as a client/server application under .NET and WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation). The data is stored in an Oracle database. Real-time data exchange is made possible by the use of Advanced Queuing.
